SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is by far the largest health provider in Southeast Alaska, with its some 1,230 employees providing medical services to 27 communities.
Established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act, the nonprofit health consortium offers primary care, general surgery, dentistry, psychiatric care, optometry, radiology, chemical dependency rehab, and prevention and education programs and clinics.
An extensive expansion of the campus is now underway with more housing and buildings being added, both on Japonski Island and in Sitka, and a new state-of-the-art hospital (Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center) is under construction.

Sitka also has two pharmacies. Harry Race Pharmacy is located at 106 Lincoln St., and can be reached at (907) 313-6750. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
White’s Pharmacy is in the Lakeside Plaza, 705 Halibut Point Road. The phone number is (907) 313-6881, and the hours are 9:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It’s closed Saturday and Sunday.
